AceShowbiz - Actor Colin Farrell has opened up about his grueling experience portraying The Penguin for the upcoming HBO series. While he enjoyed the role, the extensive makeup process took a toll on him.
"By the end of it, I was b***hing and moaning to anyone who would listen to me that I f**king wanted it to be finished," Farrell told Total Film. "I tried to remind them that I had 'grumpy gratitude.' "
Farrell previously hinted at his unwillingness to return for a second season, stating, "I never want to put that f**king suit and that f**king head on again."
However, the actor has since expressed some hesitation about his previous comments. Producer Lauren LeFranc approached Farrell about the possibility of a second season, and he replied, "Absolutely. And maybe in a year I would."
Farrell acknowledged the powerful experience of being part of the Batman lore, but the physical and mental demands of the role were significant. "It got in on me a little bit," he said.
Farrell's comments echo those of Daniel Craig, who initially declared his reluctance to return as James Bond after "Spectre". However, Craig later clarified that he simply needed time away from the role. Whether Farrell ultimately does return as The Penguin remains to be seen.
"The Penguin" debuts on September 19 on HBO, featuring a star-studded cast alongside Farrell, including Michael Kelly, Cristin Milioti, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Clancy Brown. Despite Farrell's initial reluctance, fans will eagerly anticipate the possibility of a second season as "The Penguin" delves into the character's dark and twisted underworld.
