The pop superstar makes waves on the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet with a pop-punk-infused ensemble reminiscent of Cher Horowitz, while taking a moment to remember the tragedy of 9/11 onstage.

AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift stole the spotlight at the 2024 MTV VMAs in a yellow plaid zip-up corset dress, black hot pants, thigh-high boots, and a choker, completing the "Clueless"-inspired look with its iconic miniskirt-plus-blazer set. Fans on social media couldn't help but draw comparisons to Cher Horowitz's beloved outfit.
However, the night held more than just style for Swift. As she accepted her Best Collaboration Moon Person award with Post Malone for "Fortnight", she paused to acknowledge the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. "Waking up this morning in New York on September 11, I've just been thinking about what happened 23 years ago ... everyone who lost a loved one and everyone that we lost," Swift said. "That is the most important thing about today. And everything that happens tonight falls behind that."
While Swift topped the VMA nominations with 12 nods, Tate McRae paid homage to another pop icon, Britney Spears, on the red carpet. Her lacy, see-through Roberto Cavalli dress echoed Spears' memorable Dolce & Gabbana outfit from the 2001 VMAs, complete with black lace and a balconette bra.
McRae's nod to Spears wasn't the only tribute to the "Toxic" singer at the event. Megan Thee Stallion also recreated Spears' iconic snake look from the 2001 awards.
In addition to her award wins, Swift has also been nominated for Best Pop and Best Choreography for her hit "Greedy". While she is not slated to perform this year, Tate McRae will take to the stage.
