AceShowbiz - Dakota Johnson appeared to fuel speculations that she and Chris Martin may no longer be an item. The "Fifty Shades of Grey" actress was seen without her engagement ring when stepping out for a gala event on Monday, September 9.

At the Kering Foundation's annual Caring for Women dinner, Dakota looked stunning in a semi-sheer Gucci gown. The "Madame Web" star paired the dress, which featured a plunging neckline, with dangling pearl earrings and a matching ring. Her £340,000 emerald ring from Chris, however, was nowhere to be seen.

This only further fueled rumors that the actress and the Coldplay frontman had split after they got engaged in 2020. Last month, a source told Daily Mail of the couple, "Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work. They'll always have love for each other but they've both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term."

The insider added, "They're both busy people... and they both have personal priorities, passions and work commitments which don't naturally intertwine with each other. They wanted it to work but it just hasn't, and they've now accepted it is best to move on."

A rep for Dakota, however, shut down the claims, insisting that the twosome "are happily together." Another report said that Dakota and Chris had "taken breaks in the past" but "things are great now."

Meanwhile, Deuxmoi thought that Dakota might try to hide the truth because she didn't want it to affect the promotion of her new flick, "Daddio". They're kind of like trying to do an award for [it]. And I wouldn't be surprised if she's like, 'We can break up, but like, not right now because I don't want to have to, like, answer questions about it,' " the blogger said. "And if their relationship is stable and this is not an issue at all, then they wouldn't even be acknowledging it."

"A source said to us, 'Apparently they're on again, off again, constantly. The final straw was that he packed up and moved out of their home together when she was out of town, without telling her. She got home and he was gone,' " the blogger also claimed. Meanwhile, another insider claimed that the pair "were supposed to get married this October."
