AceShowbiz - Celine Dion is taking "a huge step" in her life amid her stiff-person syndrome. After making a triumphant return onstage at this summer's Olympics, the singer is also ready to make a comeback into the dating game.
Words on the street are the Canadian star has agreed to have her friends "set her up" with a man, nearly a decade after her husband Rene Angelil passed away. "She's not actively looking for dates, but she's agreed to let her friends set her up, and everyone in her life is excited," a source tells Life & Style.
This is apparently good news for her family, including son Rene-Charles and twin boys Nelson and Eddy, who are becoming more independent. "It won't be long before they're ready to fly the nest," the so-called insider shares.
Celine's three sons are supporting their mother's decision to date again as the source adds, "They've made it clear they want to see Celine move forward and live for the future." Seeing this as a positive change in the "My Heart Will Go On" hitmaker's personal life, the insider believes her new outlook on dating "is a huge step for her. She has so much love to give."
Celine married her longtime friend and manager Rene Angelil in 1994 at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, Quebec. They welcomed their first son, Rene-Charles Angelil, in 2001 and their twins, Nelson and Eddy, in 2010.
In January 2016, Rene died at the age of 73 of throat cancer. The singer has remained single since the passing of her husband.
In December 2022, Celine revealed she was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a neurological disorder affecting her muscles, forcing her to cancel all of her tour dates which were already planned beforehand.
After nearly two-year hiatus from performing, the "Power of Love" singer made a return at the Paris 2024 Olympic Opening Ceremony in July. She performed "Hymne a L'amour", a classic originally sung by French legend Edith Piaf.
Following the gig, Celine took to Instagram to share her heartfelt gratitude. She wrote, "I'm honored to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities! Most of all, I'm so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance."
"All of you have been so focused on your dream, and whether or not you take home a medal, I hope that being here means that it has come true for you!" she added. "You should all be so proud, we know how hard you have worked to be the best of the best. Stay focused, keep going, my heart is with you! - Celine xx…"
