AceShowbiz - Jax Taylor, best known for his appearances on reality TV shows like "Vanderpump Rules" and "The Valley," has publicly disclosed his mental health issues, revealing he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The 45-year-old reality star shared his struggles on Instagram, accompanied by a heartfelt message and a black-and-white photo of himself.
"A little over a month ago, I checked into an intensive inpatient treatment facility scared of the unknown and what I would find out about myself," Taylor began his post. "After many years of knowing something was wrong but not knowing exactly what it was, I recently learned that I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and PTSD."
Taylor's announcement came shortly after completing a 30-day in-patient treatment program. While admitting he was "scared for the future," he's committed to being a better version of himself each day. "Mental health is a lifelong battle of not letting it control you but rather you learning to control it," he stated.
The timing of this revelation coincides with a significant transitional period in Taylor's life as he's entangled in an ongoing divorce battle with Brittany Cartwright. The couple, married since 2019, had been documenting their rocky relationship on their current show, "The Valley." As Taylor returned from treatment, Cartwright filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking primary custody of their son.
Cartwright addressed the split on their podcast, "When Reality Hits," revealing, "It's taken me many many years to get to this point, where I've gained enough courage and strength to do what's best for me - get myself out of a toxic relationship and ultimately see my worth." She admitted that the decision to file for divorce was neither hasty nor easy, but necessary for her well-being and that of her son.
In July, Taylor's representative confirmed his decision to seek in-patient treatment amid the separation. The rep requested privacy, acknowledging the sensitivity of the situation for Taylor and his family. This tumultuous period is being captured on "The Valley," adding another layer of public scrutiny to their personal lives.
As Taylor continues his journey towards better mental health and personal improvement, he has garnered support from fans and followers, who have shared their own stories and struggles with him. "Your messages have helped me more than you know," he concluded in his Instagram post, proving that even in the face of adversity, community and connection can provide immense strength.
