AceShowbiz - Angelina Jolie has opened up about the moment her sons, Maddox and Pax, witnessed her in an emotional state while filming her new movie, "Maria." During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 49-year-old actress reflected on her experience working on the film alongside her two sons, whom she shares with ex-husband Brad Pitt.
Jolie expressed that working on the film brought on intense moments, leading her sons, who served as assistant directors, to see her express emotions in a way they hadn't before. "You really try to hide from your children how much pain and sadness you carry," Jolie said.
However, having her sons on set during such moments held immense meaning for her. "It really meant a lot that my boys were with me on Maria. When I would have really heavy times, they would come over and just give me a hug or a cup of tea," she recalled.
Jolie believes that allowing her sons to witness her vulnerability deepened their understanding of her. "That was probably one of the more intense things was that - usually when I'm expressing that much pain, it's not in front of my children," she explained.
She joked, "That's usually for the shower."
In addition to witnessing her emotional side, Jolie's sons have also been actively involved in her film projects. She expressed pride in their growing careers in the film industry. "Mad and Pax were on this one doing AD [assistant directing] work," she said. "They've done that quite a few times, and I think that's good for them."
Jolie's reflections on motherhood and her children's growing independence showcase her commitment to balancing her work and her family life. "They're a bit older, getting more independent," she said. "I'm less needed and so able to go away for different periods of time."
Overall, Jolie's experience on the set of "Maria" has not only allowed her to connect with her sons on a deeper level but has also highlighted the dynamic and evolving nature of their relationship.
