AceShowbiz - Victoria Jackson, who was a "Saturday Night Live" cast member from 1986 to 1992, is opening up about her cancer recurrence. Jackson announced on August 14 that the breast cancer she was first diagnosed with in 2015 had returned. Doctors told her that the cancer is inoperable and has spread to her windpipe, eventually posing a risk of suffocation.
Despite the grave diagnosis, Jackson remains optimistic. "I'm so blessed to have had a long life and a wonderful life. Whether I die at 65, 70 or 75, what's the difference?" she said.
Jackson explained that she approached the news logically. "How can you catch every molecule?" she asked. "I'm not good in science or math, but I expected it could come back."
She also shared that she has achieved "every dream" she's "ever had," including having children, traveling to Paris, and being on TV.
Jackson is currently being treated with medication at the Vanderbilt Breast Center in Nashville. She is also taking Palbociclib, a drug that targets breast cancer, and radiation therapy is a potential back-up plan.
Despite the challenges ahead, Jackson remains focused on spending time with her family, including her husband, two daughters, and four grandchildren. "I don't miss anything in their childhoods. I video every day of my daughter's lives," she said.
Jackson's positive attitude and acceptance of her fate are an inspiration to others facing similar challenges.
