AceShowbiz - Singer-songwriter Muni Long opens up about the end of her marriage to Raysean Hairston, revealing the inspiration behind her new album titled "Revenge". During an interview on "The Cruz Show", Long shared that after nine years together, her relationship with Hairston "just didn't work out." She emphasized that she doesn't have time for drama or nonsense, and that she has decided to focus on her own happiness.
Long's new album "Revenge" reflects her personal experiences, including her split from Hairston. The closing track "Ruined Me" was largely inspired by the breakup.
"I always pull from real experiences because I'm writing from my unique perspective. But this is the first time I'm putting my real life in it. It's no secret...I've been married for nine years...it just didn't work out," Long said.
Despite recognizing Hairston as "the love of my life," Long refuses to put her life on hold for him to mature. "I think it takes incredible strength to realize that this was the love of my life at one point - and he probably could be really good for me if he got it together - but I'm not willing to put my life, my passion, and my happiness on hold for you to catch up. Unfortunately, you might get it in a year...but I'm sorry, I'm probably already over it," she said.
Earlier in 2023, Long had praised her marriage on NPR, but she acknowledged that she had no time for drama or negativity. She also spoke about her husband's role in her musical career, as he had co-written and co-produced some of her songs.
The couple wed in late 2014 but have since separated.
