AceShowbiz - A$AP Rocky has found himself in hot water following his recent revelation. After announcing his new song titled "Tailor Swiff", the rapper was met with backlash over the use of Taylor Swift's name on his upcoming track.
On Thursday, August 29, the 35-year-old hip-hop artist became a hot topic on X, formerly known as Twitter. He was highly criticized by X users and Taylor's fans, famously known as Swifties, for allegedly using the "All Too Well" hitmaker for clout.
One in particular tweeted, "Whole industry wants clout from her name." Similarly, another chimed in, "Men won't stop using her name for clout. can these men leave her alone…" A third argued, "Desperate for a hit so they have to include the industry someway or somehow." Meanwhile, a fourth asked, "Why does every male want beef with taylor swift ? it's weird."
It did not take long for Rocky's fans to come to his defense. One of them pointed out, "It's so funny to me how Taylor Swift fans are so fast to criticize a reference to her name, when if A$AP Rocky named the song 'Madonna' 'Billie Eilish' or 'Charli XCX' it would've easily been seen as tribute. Goes to show how much of her discourse is wrapped in victimhood."
In the meantime, another slammed Swifties, " 'I'm too swift, now don't tell Taylor 'bout this s**t (Yeah). Go to my tailor, got me dripped like (Yeah, wetty)' -lyrics from unreleased asap rocky (Rihanna baby daddy) song. not a diss. swifties mad. stop being triggered by harmless s**t."
The mixed comments came shortly after Rocky announced that he will launch his song titled "Tailor Swiff", which was previously leaked online, and its accompanying music video on Friday, August 30. Making use of TikTok, he treated his fans to a trailer of the upcoming visuals. Along with the 11-second footage, he wrote in the caption, "TAILOR SWIFF VIDEO 2MRW."
