AceShowbiz - Alix Earle has admitted to using a racial slur in 2014, as seen in screenshots that have recently resurfaced online. In an Instagram story, the 23-year-old apologized and explained that she was only 13 at the time and did not understand the offensive nature of her words.
"That is no excuse for using that word in any context or at any age. That absolutely is not the way I speak or what I stand for," Earle wrote. "I am deeply sorry that my words have hurt many and have led people to believe that I have any prejudice in my heart."
Earle, who has built her platform on positivity and entertainment, expressed regret for her past actions. She also said she had received advice not to address the issue, but she ultimately decided to speak out.
"I regret how I handled this situation, allowing too many people to talk me out of saying something for too long. I wasn't sure how to handle it and unfortunately the advice I was given, although well intended, was wrong," she wrote.
Earle also addressed rumors that she was trying to trademark her old posts or that a brand had stopped working with her. She denied both of these claims.
"Regardless of what's being said online, I wanted to come on here to address the facts and most importantly apologize," she concluded.
The screenshots of Earle's comments were shared on the "Alix Earle Snark" page on Reddit in 2023. They later gained traction on TikTok and other subreddits, including one named after the podcast "Do We Know Them?" The show's hosts discussed the screenshots and a rumor that Earle was trying to copyright the posts, but Earle's lawyer denied this claim.
