Taking home mementos from a TV show's set is a tradition for many actors. But when Jodie Sweetin tried to claim a special piece of the 'Fuller House' set as her own, she encountered some unexpected hurdles.

AceShowbiz - When the final episode of "Fuller House" wrapped, Jodie Sweetin, who played Stephanie Tanner, had her eyes set on the iconic Sea Pappy statue that had been a fixture in the Tanner family home for both the original "Full House" and its sequel. The actress revealed her amusing adventure to PEOPLE, sharing how she almost got away with her would-be souvenir.

"I took the head of that weird little statue that sat at the base of the stairs," Sweetin recounted. "I attempted to take the whole thing, but it was rather unwieldy the night of the wrap of the show, and hard to get out of there without anyone noticing that I was carrying a giant statue."

Despite her efforts, Sweetin was caught red-handed. "I got stopped with the head in my car. And they were like, 'You can't take that until we inventory it,' " she explained. Leaving her empty-handed at the time, Sweetin devised a clever plan. She placed a Post-It note on Sea Pappy's head, claiming it as her own.

A few weeks later, her cunning paid off. "And then one day, a couple of weeks later, my doorbell rang. I opened it up and no one was there, just the Sea Pappy head. It was the best moment," she shared fondly.

This wasn't Sweetin's first time discussing her heist attempt. She also told the story on the late Bob Saget's podcast in 2021. Sweetin described the statue as a styrofoam replica, not the original wooden version. Saget, who played her on-screen father, Danny Tanner, humorously remarked, "I would have helped you take the whole [statue]. I was there."

Sweetin wasn't alone in her attempt to keep a part of the show's history. John Stamos, who portrayed Uncle Jesse, successfully took home the blue-and-white checkered loveseat, the centerpiece of the Tanner family's living room.

The urge to take keepsakes from set is common among actors, a way to hold onto memories associated with the years of work and camaraderie. For Sweetin, the Sea Pappy head serves as a tangible memory of her time on "Fuller House," symbolizing both the challenges and triumphs experienced with her on-screen family.

So, while Sea Pappy never made it off the set intact, his styrofoam head now resides with Sweetin, a cherished memento to remind her of the Tanner family's adventures both on and off the screen.
