AceShowbiz - Julia Louis-Dreyfus has firmly rejected comparisons between her fictional "Veep" character, Selina Meyer, and current Vice President Kamala Harris. In an interview on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert", she stated, "Selina Meyer and Kamala Harris are not alike."
Despite both being senators who became the first female vice president and presidential nominees, Louis-Dreyfus emphasized that Meyer was a "narcissistic, megalomaniac sociopath," while Harris is not. She hinted that another candidate in the race might fit that description better.
When asked about a parallel for Republican Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance, Louis-Dreyfus identified Jonah Ryan, a power-hungry White House aide in Veep who eventually became Vice President. She acknowledged the rumors that Vance had sex with a couch, joking that Ryan "has made love to many a couches."
Despite the 350% increase in Veep viewership since Harris's nomination, show creator David Mandel also refuted the similarities between Meyer and Harris. He argued that Mike Pence, former Vice President under Donald Trump, was a more suitable Veep comparison.
On the campaign front, Louis-Dreyfus expressed excitement for her role in the upcoming Democratic National Convention. She will host a panel featuring eight Democratic women governors.
