AceShowbiz - Super Bowl winner Bobby McCray, 43, has taken the significant step of filing for divorce from his wife of 13 years, Khadijah Haqq, 41. This move comes over a year after the two initially decided to part ways.
In the legal documents, McCray, who played as a defensive end for notable NFL teams including the Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints, and Philadelphia Eagles, cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. He also mentioned July 7, 2023, as the official date of their separation.
The couple first met in a nightclub and got married in July 2010 at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles. Over the years, they have been blessed with three children: Christian, 13, Celine, 9, and Kapri, 3. McCray also has a 20-year-old son from a previous relationship.
According to the divorce filing, McCray is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their children. Additionally, he is requesting spousal support from Haqq while asking the court to block her from getting spousal support. Khadijah has not yet responded to the filing.
Khadijah Haqq, known for her close ties with the Kardashian family, first announced their split via Instagram in August 2023. In an emotional post, she expressed, "After 13 years of marriage, 16 years together and 4 incredible children, I have come to the intensely difficult conclusion that while Bobby & I have a great deal of love for each other, it's best we move forward separately."
She added, "Now more than ever I have been relying on prayer. Family is so important to me. Unfortunately, life has brought me to a tremendous transition."
Throughout their marriage, Khadijah kept much of their relationship private, aiming to protect their family's privacy. However, in a rare disclosure, she revealed in 2019 how McCray had initially caught her eye, describing him as a "large, Black, adorable man" whose athletic prowess on the football field she found captivating.
McCray, who was part of the New Orleans Saints team that won the Super Bowl in 2010, has now moved towards legally ending their union. Despite the ongoing procedures, both Khadijah and McCray appear committed to co-parenting their children and moving forward with their lives. As their journey unfolds, the public remains respectful of their privacy and supportive of their decisions.
