AceShowbiz - Cardi B appeared to have chosen the title of her upcoming album. The "Miami (Enough)" raptress, who reportedly will launch new music this year, has filed trademarks for two phrases that may be used for her forthcoming set.
On Wednesday, August 7, TMZ revealed that the 31-year-old female hip-hop artist "filed trademark applications" for "Defamation of Character" and "Intrusive Thoughts". According to new legal papers obtained by the media outlet, she "wants to use [the phrases] for music albums."
The outlet noted, "Cardi's trademark applications also state she wants the phrases for music videos and downloadable music files, plus potential other uses," adding that it is "basically everything an artist would need to make money off their music."
It was also said that Cardi is set to release her new album "later this year." The "WAP" rapper reportedly "is more than three-quarters of the way done with the project and she's determined to drop it in 2024, even with all the extra commitments she has outside the studio."
In the wake of the revelation, social media users took to Instagram to voice their opinions on the potential title of her forthcoming record. In the comments section of a post about Cardi's trademark requests, one in particular stated, "Defamation of character would be so good." Similarly, another chimed in, "Defamation of character would eat for her album title after IOP honestly," making a reference to her debut set "Invasion of Privacy" that was launched back in 2018.
The report came more than one month after Cardi teased the title of her upcoming album. In June, she uploaded via Instagram Stories a photo in which she was seen covering what appeared to be the title on a paper with one of her hands.
Over the snap, Cardi asked her followers, "What y'all think my album name is?" There were only three letters that were displayed, "CRE." However, there were the words "Creative and Strategic" underneath the femcee's hand.
