AceShowbiz - Theo Benedet, a 22-year-old rookie lineman from Canada, left an unforgettable impression on his Chicago Bears teammates and viewers of the HBO series "Hard Knocks" during the season premiere.
Benedet kicked off the team's rookie showcase by singing "God Bless the USA" while wearing only a pair of sweatpants. However, as he reached the chorus, he dramatically ripped off his pants to reveal a patriotic speedo featuring a bald eagle design.
The performance, complete with miniature cymbal accompaniment, sent the room into a frenzy of laughter and applause. Several players even joined in on the chorus, and head coach Matt Eberflus dubbed Benedet "The Canadian Eagle."
Despite the initial hilarity, it was later revealed that Benedet had suffered a Grade 2 hamstring sprain during the Hall of Fame game, sidelining him for the next four to five weeks.
Benedet's performance, along with the heartwarming moments captured of quarterback Caleb Williams singing "Ordinary People" and safety Jonathan Owens supporting his wife Simone Biles at the Olympics, provided a glimpse into the camaraderie and spirit of the Bears team.
Although Benedet's singing ability may not be a typical factor in evaluating NFL roster qualifications, his dedication and enthusiasm have certainly made him a standout rookie. "Hard Knocks" fans eagerly await what other surprises he has in store.
