Despite widespread speculation, the pop icon did not appear in the MCU crossover film, and director Shawn Levy explains how the fan casting rumors took off.

AceShowbiz - "Deadpool & Wolverine" is smashing box office records and revitalizing the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise with electrifying performances and surprise cameos. However, one highly anticipated cameo that never materialized was that of Taylor Swift starring as Dazzler, despite rampant online speculation and fan theories.

Director Shawn Levy has finally put these rumors to rest, speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the fervent fan discussions and the pressure it created. "It was so very loud," Levy admitted. "I definitely had moments where I was worried I would disappoint people when they realized Taylor as Dazzler was not in the movie, but there's no controlling the internet and rumors spread like wildfire."

For those unaware, Taylor Swift was rumored to play Ali Blaire, a.k.a. Dazzler, a super-heroine with the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams. The speculation was partly fueled by Swift's real-life friendships with stars Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, and director Levy, all of whom have personal ties with the pop sensation.

Levy clarified, "It was never a conversation. It was never even a seed of a discussion." Reynolds also confirmed last month that Swift is "not in this film," but playfully suggested Swift could take over the role of Deadpool someday, praising her comedic chops.

Still, Swift took the rumors in stride and used the film's release as an opportunity to celebrate her friends' hard work. "Over the past few years, I have watched one of my best friends on this planet pour every bit of his heart, soul, sweat, time, energy, jokes, pain, joy, rebellion, darkness, and magic into this film," she wrote in a statement on Instagram. Swift humorously added, "But that's just Hugh for you!"

While the Grammy Award winner does not appear in the film, "Deadpool & Wolverine" delighted fans with numerous other high-profile cameos. Audiences were treated to Chris Evans reprising his role as Johnny Storm, Wesley Snipes returning as Blade, and Dafne Keen stepping back into her role as Laura/X-23.

Nevertheless, the swirling rumors around Swift highlight a growing phenomenon within fandoms where speculation turns into expectation, which can shape the reaction to the actual content. Despite these unmet expectations, "Deadpool & Wolverine" continues to shine as a joyous escape filled with laughter, action and a touch of the unexpected.

"Deadpool & Wolverine" is now playing in theaters. Don’t miss out on this wild adventure!
