AceShowbiz - Brooke Burke, 52, has shared her perspective on her unexpected departure from "Dancing with the Stars" in 2014. Burke, who co-hosted the hit ABC dance competition from Season 10, was replaced by Erin Andrews before Season 18.
Reflecting on her exit, Burke admitted, "I probably had enough, but when you leave something, you kind of look back and want a little bit more." Despite her readiness for a change, she found the timing "disappointing and shocking."
Burke explained that she was informed of her departure shortly before the season premiere, saying, "Finding out that I would not be returning to the ballroom just weeks before the premiere was quite a shake up."
Despite her disappointment, she understands the nature of the entertainment industry. "I think it's shocking when there's a change in our business," she said. "It was for sure a time for a number of reasons on both sides."
Burke recalled explaining her departure to her children, who were with her when she received the news. "My son shouted, 'You got fired Mommy?!' " she said. "I laughed at the fine line in it all."
Despite her initial shock, Burke expressed a sense of humor about the situation. On Twitter, she joked, "Here's the skinny-The show found out Harold Wheeler, the band, Rob & me were putting together our own road show, so they fired us all!"
