Smoking indoors is illegal in South Korea, as well as in Italy, where the video was reportedly filmed.
Following widespread outcry, Jennie's agency, OA Entertainment, issued a statement on July 9 apologizing for her actions and acknowledging her "mistake." The agency stated that Jennie had "personally apologized to all the staff on-site who may have been affected" and that they hoped to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
The YouTube video has since been edited to remove the shot of Jennie vaping indoors.
