AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift is supported by her fans, who are famously known as Swifties, no matter what. Despite accusations of blocking other artists from the Billboard 200 top spot, the "All Too Well" hitmaker received support from her devotees to break a new record.
On Monday, July 8, the 34-year-old superstar became a hot topic on X, formerly known as Twitter. On the social media platform, many X users discussed the possibility of the singer making history with her latest album titled "The Tortured Poets Department", which hit an 11th consecutive week atop the Billboard 200 chart.
Swifties took to X to voice their support for Taylor, vowing that they will help the Grammy Award winner's record "TTPD" occupy No. 1 on the tally for 13 consecutive weeks. One in particular wrote, "Girlie just wants 13 weeks #1 consecutive pls give it to her," adding a slew of crying face emojis.
Another stated, "If sis releases the anthology vinyl, I might buy a record player just for it." Similarly, a third penned, "The only capitalistic endeavor of hers i'd welcome with open arms and wallet." Meanwhile, a fourth noted, "Tay can sell this much vinyls in an hour btw. the only question right now is how much is she willing to stock?"
The four users were replying to a tweet about Taylor's "TTPD" competing with Eminem's upcoming album titled "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace)". The tweet read, "According to HDD, Taylor will need more than 350,000 units to remain at #1 in its 13th week. The competition will be with Eminem's new album. It's worth remembering that Taylor has not yet released the physical version of 'The Anthology'."
The supportive messages came after Taylor was accused of blocking other artists' albums from landing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Online critics went public with the allegations upon learning that Taylor "restocked webstore versions of 'The Tortured Poets Department' on Sunday."
One of them criticized, "The most chart obsessed and desperate artist in history." Another stated, "Taylor Swift is very chart obsessed but it's so funny to me that she did not have to release any edition last week because Megan is literally not a threat," referring to Megan Thee Stallion, who released her self-titled album on June 28.
