"I'm always trying to think of things you might want to hear," Swift told the crowd. "Maybe things that might be a little bit unexpected. Let's see how we did tonight."
Swift played a mashup of "This Is What You Came For" and her own "Gold Rush" on the guitar, earning euphoric cheers from the audience. This marked the first time the song had been featured on the "Eras Tour".
Swift also performed a mashup of "The Great War" and "You're Losing Me" on the piano as her second surprise song.
The performance of "This Is What You Came For" was particularly significant because Swift co-wrote the song under the pseudonym "Nils Sjoberg" in 2016 while dating Harris. The pseudonym was eventually dropped from the credits, revealing Swift's involvement.
Swift previously played the song at the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, Texas in 2016 and at a Super Saturday Night performance in Houston, Texas in 2017.
The "Eras Tour" has featured a different pair of surprise songs each night, giving fans an opportunity to hear unexpected and rare performances from Swift's extensive catalog. Despite rumors of an extended tour, Swift confirmed that the final dates will take place in North America in December.
