Gypsy Rose Blanchard Details Exploring Sexuality Behind Bars

The 'Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up' star, who is widely known for her tumultuous past involving the murder of her mother, opens up about her post-prison life, including her explorations of sexuality.

AceShowbiz - Gypsy Rose Blanchard, now 32, was released from prison in December 2023 after serving 8.5 years of a 10-year sentence for the second-degree murder of her mother. Dee Dee Blanchard suffered from Munchausen by proxy syndrome, a mental health disorder where an abusive caregiver deliberately causes illness or injury to someone in their care. Assisted by her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn, who is currently serving a life sentence, Gypsy sought to escape her mother's abusive hold.

Since her release, Gypsy has become a public figure and is starring in a Lifetime docuseries, "Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up". In the second episode, she candidly discusses her sexuality. "A big part of womanhood is learning to become comfortable with their sexuality, and for years I wasn't," she explained. Gypsy further revealed, "For a long time, I questioned my own sexuality because [when] I was a teenager or a pre-teen, I felt like I was attracted to girls, and I got to experiment with that in prison. I think I've kissed more girls than I have guys."

Her romantic life has also drawn interest since her release. Gypsy married Louisiana teacher Ryan Anderson in July 2022. However, their marriage ended with a separation and a subsequent divorce filing in April 2024 due to Anderson's food hoarding and snoring behaviors. Gypsy confirmed a rekindled romance with her former fiance, Ken Urker, in April 2024, describing their love as "simply undeniable." Despite affirming her belief that Urker is her "soulmate," she insists they're not rushing into anything "heavy."
