AceShowbiz - Sienna Miller, the acclaimed actress, has recently shared her experiences navigating an age gap with her partner, Oli Green, and the judgment surrounding her pregnancy at the age of 41. The actress explained in a new interview she initially thought her romance with the 27-year-old actor was only a fling.
"I didn't expect to take it seriously and then quite quickly, I fell in love," she told Harper's Bazaar. "I wasn't like, 'I'm gonna get a younger boyfriend.' It was more, 'F**k! Why are you young? That's so annoying'."
Initially hesitant about the relationship due to the 14-year age difference, Miller admits that she was surprised by the love and joy they have found together. However, she acknowledges that some have questioned the validity of such relationships.
"There's been nothing but love and joy," Miller said about her connection with Green. "But for him, it is real that he might want to be with someone older."
Miller has also spoken out against the double standards surrounding age gaps in relationships, particularly when the woman is older. "Me being the older woman in a partnership with a younger person, or being pregnant over 40 - and that that's 'irresponsible' and 'the poor child' - it's such double standards," she said.
She believes that these judgments are rooted in outdated societal norms that favor younger women in partnerships. "It's just a trite, easy target," Miller added.
Miller has also observed a shift in the dynamics between men and women in Oli Green's generation. She notes that young women today are more assertive and self-assured, challenging the power imbalances that were prevalent in earlier times.
"I see it with Oli's friends," she said. "There's awareness of the dynamics that enter relationships between men and women now that we just didn't have 20 or 25 years ago."
Miller has also emphasized that matters of the heart cannot be controlled or legislated. "I don't think you can legislate on matters of the heart," she said. "I certainly have never been able to."
Miller is expecting her second daughter, her first with Green, and she has embraced the experience with joy and gratitude. Despite the challenges of being a mother at an older age, she remains optimistic and believes that she has the wisdom and experience to nurture her child.
"She's magical," Miller said about her unborn daughter. "It's amazing when you have these little people and there's a universe inside their heads."
Miller's journey has highlighted the evolving nature of relationships, the challenges and opportunities that come with age gaps, and the ongoing struggle for gender equality in society.
