The beloved co-stars from the comedy show reunite backstage at 'Live with Kelly and Mark', sharing a heartwarming moment and reminiscing about their former roles.

AceShowbiz - On Wednesday, June 5, Retta appeared on "Live with Kelly and Mark" to promote her film "Hit Man". While backstage, she had a serendipitous encounter with her former castmate Amy Poehler. Poehler was on set pre-recording her Friday appearance for the movie "Inside Out 2".

The pair captured their reunion in a sweet snapshot shared on the show's Instagram account. They posed alongside hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, as well as sharing a warm embrace. Ripa acknowledged the pair as "comedic legends," expressing admiration for Retta's Broadway aspirations.

Retta's Broadway aspirations became the topic of their chat. While initially denying any plans, Ripa clarified that Retta had expressed an interest on the show. Both Ripa and Poehler agreed that Retta's singing abilities would make her a perfect fit for the stage. Retta affirmed her determination to pursue Broadway, emphasizing her preference for roles with minimal dancing.

In "Parks and Recreation", Retta played Donna Meagle, the office manager of the Indiana Parks and Recreation Department, while Poehler portrayed Leslie Knope, the deputy director. The show ran for seven seasons from 2009 to 2015 on NBC and remains streaming on Peacock.

Back in 2019, after PaleyFest honored the 'Parks and Recreation' cast for its 10th anniversary, the cast gathered at Avenue in L.A. for a celebration. The party featured references to the show, including a waffle station, a "treat yo self" station with cupcakes and brownie sundaes, and a toast of Lagavulin 16, a favorite drink of Nick Offerman's character, Ron Swanson.
