In addition to sharing her personal struggles with addiction, the singer/actress hopes her upcoming book will serve as a cautionary tale for young performers and musicians.

AceShowbiz - Singer and actress [JoJo] has announced her debut memoir, "Over the Influence," scheduled for release on September 17 via Hachette Books. The forthcoming tell-all memoir promises to reveal insights into her life in the spotlight and beyond.

"Over the Influence" explores JoJo's experiences with addiction, generational trauma, early fame, and the challenges of thriving in the evolving music industry. Through honest and raw storytelling, she delves into the impact of these factors on her personal and professional life.

In the spring of 2023, JoJo made her Broadway debut in "Moulin Rouge! The Musical," where she performed as the heroine Satine. The demanding role inspired her to embark on the writing journey for her memoir, which she began "a couple years ago" in anticipation of the 20th anniversary of her debut album.

JoJo wrote every word of the memoir herself, aiming to provide a deeply personal account of her life. "I wanted to try to remember my stories before I forget them," she said. "I wanted to share them with the next generation of performers and young people that are interested in the music industry."

In addition to sharing her personal struggles with addiction, JoJo hopes "Over the Influence" will serve as a cautionary tale for young performers and musicians. She emphasizes the importance of open conversations about the challenges of being a teenager in the spotlight and the potential impact of addiction on both personal and professional lives.

"This book is for anyone who has ever felt disillusioned, disconnected, but underneath it all DETERMINED to find themselves and a new way of being," said JoJo in a statement. "Today success is about happiness and connection. My desire in sharing my life experience in this form is to connect with you in a deeper way."
