"Hacks", starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder, follows the complex relationship between veteran comedian Deborah Vance and her young writer, Ava Daniels. The creative team behind this singular show is not only brilliant but also a joy to work with."
Erin Underhill, President of Universal Television, added, "The creators and cast of 'Hacks' have crafted a world that is both compelling and deeply relatable. We applaud the outstanding cast, who bring these flawed, hilarious, and deeply human characters to life."
The renewal news is a testament to the show's critical and commercial success. "Hacks" has received multiple Emmy Award nominations, with Smart winning Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series twice for her performance. The show has also been praised for its sharp writing and its exploration of themes such as aging, friendship and the entertainment industry.
"Hacks" features a talented ensemble cast, including Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Jane Adams, J. Smith-Cameron, Mark Indelicato and Rose Abdoo. Season 3 guest stars included Christopher Lloyd, Christina Hendricks, Dan Bucatinsky and Tony Goldwyn.
