The chat came months after Deborra-Lee and Hugh announced their decision to end their 27-year marriage. On September 15, 2023, they issued a statement about the matter to PEOPLE. "We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth," they stated.
"Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives," they continued.
Weeks after the shocking news, it was revealed that Hugh is still "processing life" without Deborra-Lee. "Hugh is not against dating or against being put together with someone that friends might think is right for him, but he is also still processing life without the woman he has been with for decades," a source told DailyMail.com on October 12, 2023.
