The 'Paint the Town Red' raptress reveals the subtle nod in her simple dress to this year's theme while also spilling the secret of how she obtains her wet look.

AceShowbiz - Doja Cat has revealed the poetic reason she opted for a wet T-shirt dress at the 2024 Met Gala. Instead of just showing skin, the Grammy Award-winning artist carefully chose the outfit to give a nod to this year's dress code, "The Garden of Time", in a subtle way.

Asked by ET why she went with the white see-through dress that made her look like straight out of the shower, the 28-year-old said, "I know that people are going to do flowers, but my flower of choice is the most-used flower. And it's cotton." She added of the philosophical meaning behind the dress, "I wanted to do a white T-shirt, also because a white T-shirt is timeless."

"And it felt very poetic to choose this," the "Kiss Me More" hitmaker continued. The dress also reflected her personality as she added, "I knew it wasn't going to blend in too much, and I don't really like to blend in. So we went with this."

On the red carpet, Doja was also asked how she obtained the wet look. "This is all, I'm actually all wet now...water," she coyly said, before spilling the beans, "I'm not supposed to give the secret, but it's hair gel. It's hair gel." She further shared, "It's all hair gel, and it's all smooth throughout the whole thing."

Doja earlier arrived at the event, which took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, May 6, in just a towel. She continued with the theme by rocking the Dilara Findikoglu dress.

The raptress looked like straight out of the shower in the white see-through Vetements T-shirt dress that clung to her skin, paired with clear sky-high-platforms. As for her makeup, she sported dramatic black eyeliner with silver paint dripping down her face like tears rolling down on her cheeks.
