The singer/songwriter, who competed in 'Superstar K2' in 2010, is known for her debut single 'Beautiful' featuring Zico and her contributions to popular K-drama soundtracks.

AceShowbiz - K-Pop fans are mourning the loss of another talented star. Singer/songwriter Park Boram has sadly passed away at the age of 30, her agency has confirmed. She was found dead on Thursday, April 11 in South Korea.

Her agency Xanadu Entertainment shared the sad news on Friday, April 12 (local time). "This is XANADU Entertainment," they began the statement. "We are here to share sorrowful and heartbreaking news. Park Bo Ram suddenly passed away late at night on April 11."

"All of the artists and executives at XANADU Entertainment are deeply mourning the deceased with great sadness," they added. "It is even more heartbreaking that we have to tell you this sudden news to all of the fans who support Park Bo Ram. The funeral will be held after consulting with the bereaved's family. Once again, we send our deepest condolences to the deceased so she may rest in peace."

The cause of death is not immediately known and is currently under investigation, but a police report filed by officers from the Namyangju Police Station states that she was at a private drinking gathering with two friends on the night of her passing.

During the gathering, which took place at a friend's home, Park Boram went to the restroom at around 9:55 P.M. When she did not return after some time, one of the individuals present went to check on her and found her slouched over the sink, unconscious. The friends immediately called 911 and attempted to perform CPR on her.

When emergency responders arrived, Park Boram was transported to Hanyang University Guri Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 11:17 P.M. The police are requesting an autopsy with the National Forensic Service to investigate the cause of death.

Park Boram competed in Mnet's "SuperStar K2" in 2010 and finished in eighth place. In 2014, she made her debut with the release of her digital single "Beautiful" featuring Zico. The song and music video were notably semi-autobiographical of her journey to lose nearly 70 pounds reportedly ahead of her debut.

Park Boram later shared her satisfaction that her then-management supported her many changes ahead of the single release. "I think a lot of people, after listening to this song, were motivated to exercise more, lose weight and diet," she told Elise Hu for the "Weekend Edition Sunday" show. "I think a big reason is because I put my story into it. Like, one banana, two eggs - eating just that, and you see the results in me, and that was motivating for people."

Park Boram is also known for her contributions to popular K-drama soundtracks such as "Hyehwadong (or Sangmundong)" for the K-drama "Reply 1988" and "Please Say Something Even Though I Know It's a Lie" for the "W" series. It's reported that she was working on an album to celebrate her upcoming 10th anniversary for this summer prior to her death.
