Making use of her X account, the Cara Dune depicter blasts the company after it filed a motion to dismiss her lawsuit, in which she accused Disney of wrongful termination back in 2021.

AceShowbiz - "The Mandalorian" alum Gina Carano has responded to Disney's attempt to toss her lawsuit away. Making use of her X account, the actress blasted the company after it filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, in which she accused Disney of wrongful termination.

In her social media post, Gina pointed out, "Disney has confirmed what has been known all along, they will fire you if you say anything they disagree with, even if they have to MISREPRESENT, MALIGN, and MISCHARACTERIZE you to do it." She added, "They are now on record letting everyone who works for them know that Disney will take any chance they get to control what you say, what you think or they will attempt to destroy your career. Glad we cleared that up."

Gina, who played bounty hunter Cara Dune on the Disney+ series, went on writing, "The First Amendment does not allow Disney to wantonly DISCRIMINATE, which is what they have done in my case and frankly have now admitted they did. If you ever wanted to know what today's 'Disney values' are, they just told you."

Gina Carano's tweet

Gina Carano responded to Disney filing a motion to dismiss her lawsuit.

The former martial arts fighter's tweet came after Disney disputed the lawsuit filed by Gina after she was fired from "The Mandalorian" in 2021. In its motion, Disney asserted that the First Amendment protects its right to disassociate itself from her personal views expressed through social media posts.

Disney additionally insisted that it was only right to let go Gina after she made offensive comments regarding trans rights, COVID-19 measures, the 2020 election, and the Holocaust in controversial posts. It deemed these posts "abhorrent and unacceptable," particularly her comparison of conservative treatment to the atrocities of Nazi Germany.

The company argued in its motion that, similar to a newspaper's autonomy in selecting writers, a creative production company has the right to choose performers who align with its artistic vision. The company claimed that Gina's social media presence had begun to detract from its own expressive efforts and it could harm the company's brand and values.

Disney also stated in its motion that Gina's trivialization of the Holocaust, a topic that the company holds with the utmost sensitivity and respect, was the "last straw." The company stressed that it has a duty to protect its reputation and ensure that its content remains free from harmful or divisive messages.
