The 41-year-old actress used a cane for assistance while attending the premiere with her husband, Stephen Moyer.
Paquin admitted to PEOPLE that the past two years have been "difficult" for her, alluding to undisclosed health issues that have impacted her mobility. While she has also experienced speech difficulties, a source expressed optimism that she will make a full recovery.
Despite her health struggles, Paquin remains dedicated to her craft. She shared her love for independent filmmaking, which has been a staple in her career since she won an Oscar at age 11 for "The Piano".
In "A Bit of Light", Paquin plays a recovering alcoholic who reunites with her estranged father after losing custody of her daughters. She drew inspiration for the role from her experiences as a mother, as she emphasized the complexities of motherhood and the tendency for society to disregard women as individuals once they become mothers.
Paquin's husband, Moyer, directed the film and provided her with unwavering support both on and off set. She praised his artistic abilities, stating that she would not have worked with him if she did not believe in his talent as a director.
Paquin's health challenges have not dampened her gratitude for her loved ones. She expressed appreciation for Moyer's support, as well as her children and stepchildren.
