AceShowbiz - Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden have quietly added a new member to their family. The couple has just revealed that they had recently welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Cardinal Madden.
Breaking the news via a statement on Friday, March 22, the 51-year-old actress and the 45-year-old musician said, "We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our Son, Cardinal Madden." They gushed, "He is awesome and we are all so happy he is here!"
"For the kids safety and privacy we won't be posting any pictures," the pair added, before teasing, "but he's a really cute." They further shared, "We are feeling so blessed and grateful," before concluding their statement, "Sending much love from our fam to yours. Best wishes and Good Afternoon!!"
Other details of the newborn baby boy, such as the date of birth, have not been shared. The little bundle of joy joins his big sister, 4-year-old Raddix, whom Cameron and Benji welcomed in late 2019 via surrogate.
"We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden," they announced via Instagram at the time. "She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family."
Cameron took a break from acting following the release of "Annie", stating in July 2017 that she became tired of traveling for filming. She confirmed her retirement in March 2018.
In a 2022 interview, the "Gangs of New York" star opened up about shifting her focus from her acting career to her family. "When you're doing something that you know and you've done well and you know how it works-and it's consumed your whole life for so long-it's kind of a nice thing to kind of go, 'You know what? Let me just step back for a second, take a look at what the whole picture looks like for me, and what are the things that I could do better and be more engaged with that would make me feel more whole?' " she shared.
"And I did that," she told CBS News, explaining that "everybody only has 100 percent" to give. "You always have to figure out how you're going to divide that 100 percent," the now-mother of two continued, "to spread it to all that parts of your life that matter."
Cameron only made her acting return in June 2022 by starring in Netflix's action-comedy "Back in Action" alongside Jamie Foxx. She was recently also reported to be in talks to star in the Apple Original Film "Outcome" alongside Keanu Reeves.
