The Princess of Wales reveals in a video message she is undergoing a preventative chemotherapy after cancer was discovered in her body following an abdominal procedure.

In the video, Kate explained that she had undergone abdominal surgery in January, which was initially thought to be non-cancerous. However, tests conducted after the operation revealed the presence of cancer. Her medical team has since advised her to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, which she is currently in the early stages of.
The Princess expressed her shock and sadness upon receiving the diagnosis. She added that she and Prince William have been doing everything they can to process and manage the situation privately for the sake of their young family.
"This of course came as a huge shock," she stated. "It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louie in a way that's appropriate for them and to reassure them that I'm going to be okay. I said to Them, I am well, and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal."
She also highlighted the unwavering support of her husband, William, and the love and kindness shown by the public. She said, "Having William by my side is a great source of comfort."
The Princess concluded her message by requesting privacy for her family while she completes her treatment. She expressed her intention to return to public duties when she is able but stressed that her focus for now is on making a full recovery.
Kate also shared a message of hope for those affected by cancer, encouraging them not to lose faith or hope. She emphasized that no matter the form of cancer, individuals are not alone in their battle.
The palace has not disclosed the type of cancer or the treatment Kate is receiving. However, her father-in-law, King Charles III, is also undergoing treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer.
