AceShowbiz - Mauricio Umansky has responded to criticism from Paris Hilton after he discussed his fallout with her father, Rick Hilton, on his Netflix show, "Buying Beverly Hills".
In a preview clip from the show, Mauricio revealed that he "got kind of f**ked by Hilton & Hyland" after not being made a partner. He added that he wanted equity in the business but was denied.
Paris took to social media to defend her father, stating that he "would never speak negatively about his family, especially in the press." She also accused Umansky of using the Hilton name to promote his show.
In an interview with "Entertainment Tonight," Umansky expressed sadness over Hilton's reaction but emphasized that it was a business decision between two individuals. He denied any bad blood on his side and said he wanted to be successful and support his family.
"Look, it's sad that she got so upset about that, but at the end of the day, it's two businessmen making two business decisions," he told Entertainment Tonight. "I felt like I deserved something. I asked for something, he didn't want to do it, and then I chose to go off on my own."
Umansky's departure from Hilton & Hyland had a significant impact on his relationship with his wife, Kyle Richards, who is sisters with Kathy Hilton, Rick's wife. Richards supported Umansky's decision to leave, which caused tension within the Hilton family.
Season 2 of "Buying Beverly Hills" will premiere on Netflix on March 22. Kyle Richards will appear in the new season, months after her separation from Umansky in 2023. The trailer suggests that the show will explore the couple's decision to part ways.
