The 'Insecure' actress explains why she's rarely seen at the Hollywood awards show, claiming she was never invited to such events despite her contributions to the industry.

AceShowbiz - Actress and media personality Amanda Seales has expressed her frustration with the lack of recognition from Black award shows, despite her contributions to the industry.
In a recent social media post, the 42-year-old Seales stated that she has consistently been overlooked for invitations to events, even when being nominated or hosting. She highlighted instances such as the Essence Women in Hollywood event and the NAACP Image Awards, where she was nominated but not invited.
Seales also pointed to her hosting stint at the 2020 BET Awards from her home during the COVID-19 pandemic, after which she was not invited to the awards ceremony the following year.
"I literally hosted the BET Awards in 2020 in my house and I was not invited to the BET Awards since," she noted.
Seales emphasized that her credibility within the industry, including her role in Issa Rae's "Insecure" and her political commentary, has not earned her the recognition she believes she deserves.
Despite her efforts to uplift the Black community, including launching the comedy game show "Smart, Funny, & Black", Seales feels marginalized by the award spaces specifically created to celebrate Black culture.
"The industry I'm in does not recognize me," she said. "So I just want to thank y'all for always reminding me that I really am valuable because the game and the industry that I've been in has never let me know."
Seales' comments have resonated with her colleagues and supporters, who have voiced their indignation and encouragement.
