A court date has been set for the 'Trollz' rapper to decide whether he will remain behind bars or be freed on bond after he was arrested in Dominican Republic for an incident reportedly involving his girlfriend Yailin la Mas Viral.

The rapper has been arrested in Dominican Republic for alleged domestic violence and now his latest mugshot has circulated online. In the image, the New York City native sported a green hoodie while standing against a white wall.
6ix9ine was taken into custody on Wednesday, January 18 by Santo Domingo authorities for an incident involving his girlfriend, reggae singer Yailin la Mas Viral. According to CNN, the 27-year-old was accused of "physical and psychological violence against" Yailin, prompting the police to haul him into the Palace of Justice in the DR's capital city.
The case is being investigated by the Department Of General Violence, which handles domestic violence cases. 6ix9ine is currently being held by the local police as he awaits his first court appearance on Thursday morning to decide whether he will remain behind bars or be freed on bond while an investigation is still ongoing.
6ix9ine's attorney, however, has clarified that Yailin denied her boyfriend had assaulted her. In a statement issued via social media on Wednesday, the lawyer stated that the rapper and his girlfriend both voluntarily appeared before the Violence Directorate at the PGR.
Despite Yailin's denial to the assault claim, the prosecutor noted that the complaint was filed by Yailin's mother, who claimed that she and her daughter were both alleged victims of violence at the hands of 6ix9ine, prompting the arrest warrant that was issued on December 28.
The lawyer concluded the statement by saying, "We trust in God that the truth will prevail, that justice will be done and Mr. Hernandez will obtain his freedom. We appreciate your concern, prayers and good wishes."
6ix9ine and Yailin's relationship has been volatile. In December, the pair had an argument that turned physical, but the "Gooba" spitter insisted that he didn't put his hands on Yailin and shared videos of her assaulting him instead.
"They're using Yailin as a prop for entertainment, for gossip... But she needs help, she doesn't need publicity or to be thrown into a scandal," he said on Instagram Live. "Yailin was loved, she was cared for. I'm on probation, I would never lay my hands on a woman. I'm not here to create gossip, I'm here to clear my name and ask that this matter be dealt with responsibly."
It's unclear, however, if the said altercation is related to the alleged domestic violence incident for which he's currently arrested.
