AceShowbiz - "Mission: Impossible 8" is another movie which has been greatly affected by the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. While the direct sequel to "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One" had been long scheduled to arrive in June 2024, it now has been hit with a delay due to the actors strike.

The eighth installment of the Tom Cruise-starring action film franchise has been bumped to 2025. Paramount Pictures announced on Monday, October 23 that the movie is pushed back nearly a year from June 28, 2024 to May 23, 2025.

The delay is inevitable as filming, which began in March 2022, was halted in July 2023 when the actors strike began. Despite the delay, it comes with a silver lining as the new date is on Memorial Day weekend, where Cruise previously launched the biggest movie in his career so far, "Top Gun: Maverick", which made $1.49 billion worldwide.

The next "Mission: Impossible" movie was initially subtitled "Dead Reckoning Part Two", but the subtitle has now been removed. The studio has not unveiled a new official title for the upcoming movie.

Meanwhile, "A Quiet Place: Day One" has been assigned to take over the spot vacated by "Mission: Impossible 8". The spin-off to John Krasinski's horror film series is now opening on June 28, 2024 with IMAX screens after previously set for a March 8, 2024 release.

As for Krasinski-directed fantasy comedy "IF" starring Ryan Reynolds, it is moved up from May 24, 2024 to May 17, 2024. With its new date, the movie moves away from a crowded Memorial Day weekend which will be packed with "Mad Max" spin-off "Furiosa", Sony's "Garfield" and 20th Century Studios' "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes".

Paramount has also adjusted the release date for the untitled animated "SpongeBob SquarePants" movie, which was previously set for May 23, 2025 release. It will now arrive on December 19, 2025, facing off "Avatar 3" and an untitled Warner Bros. movie.
