AceShowbiz - Kelly Clarkson was initially unsure about moving "The Kelly Clarkson Show" from Los Angeles to New York City. Despite her initial doubt, the "Breakaway" songstress realized that it was the best decision to make since it made her feel like "a weight has lifted."

"I'll be real honest: I thought I was making a horrible decision," the 41-year-old told USA Today. "I knew I needed a fresh start and couldn't be in LA. I really wanted to be in Montana, but you can't really do a show from there quite yet. So I was like, 'The only other option would probably be New York.' "

Noting that she "genuinely" loves it, Kelly added, "And I love that my kids love it." The ex-wife of Brandon Blackstock went on to note, "At this point, I'm 40 years old. Mama rented something nice! ... I was like, 'I'm not living here unless it's right by the park and really nice for the kids.' "

"What's cool for me with season five is I am in such a great place, not only with my kids, but with me personally and with the show," she continued about her talk show. "I feel like a weight has lifted. That move was very needed. I think the thing I'm most excited about with season five, on a selfish level, is just showing up to work smiling and actually meaning it. That's a beautiful gift that you don't realize until you're out of it."

Kelly, who is mother to 9-year-old River Rose and 7-year-old Remington, previously divulged that she decided to bring her talk show to NYC to be closer to her family in North Carolina. "I talked to them because I was like, 'Guys, I need you to know what's happening. It's either I'm not going to be able to continue the show or I gotta go East Coast," she told TalkShopLive in May.

The Grammy winner admitted that during the height of the pandemic "being isolated and so far from your family… that's not good for anyone." She further elaborated, "My family is East Coast, they're North Carolina based. So it was one of those things where I just had to."
