The actor/comic is reportedly having a 'hard week' ahead of his return to the popular NBC comedy show following the recent attacks on Israel by Palestine militant group Hamas.

AceShowbiz - Pete Davidson's return to "Saturday Night Live" may not be easy for him. The actor/comic is reportedly having a "hard week" ahead of his return to the popular NBC comedy show on Saturday night, October 14.

A pal told Page Six that the recent attacks on Israel by Palestine militant group Hamas reminded him of his own family tragedy. "Pete's dad was a victim in the terrorist attacks of 9/11, so it's been a hard week for him," the friend said. "He's thrown himself into the show, because, what else can you do?"

It was also noted that Pete had been working on his monologue at comedy clubs in the city this week. However, "The King of Staten Island" star has yet to finalize whether he might address Israel during his monologue.

Producers of "SNL" allegedly were used to Pete, who was in rehab due to PTSD and borderline personality disorder in June, skipping the shows due to personal struggles during his time on the series. "People around Pete are always going to be watching out for his mental health," the insider shared.

Recently, Pete revealed that she would be bringing his mother Amy to "SNL" in the hope of finding her a date. Speaking on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon", he said, "She's very excited. She actually has been on the show almost as many times as I have! Like, she's always ready to go up. And I'm really excited, just because, like, I'm trying to find my mom someone to date. She hasn't been with anybody in like 23 years. So, like, yeah! And she's a good catch."

Pete later joked, "And it's like, you know, brand new down there so..." Pete went on to explain he was "trying to find someone nice" for his mom, both to make her happy and to help him out. He quipped, "I really just want someone to take care of her, and to get her off my hands."

Pete left "SNL" as a series regular towards the end of season 47 and he's hopeful his hosting gig finally happens after having previous appearances canceled due to reasons outside of his control.

"It's funny, any time I have something that I work really hard on that I'm, like, really proud of, either a national pandemic happens, and they're like, 'No premiere for you!' Or then this writer's strike happened. So yeah, I still think it might not happen," he added.

During the episode, "The Suicide Squad" star also revealed that he learned about his hosting gig from a text message from producer Lorne Michaels. He laughed, "I got a classic Lorne text. He was like, 'There's a rumor going around that you're the host for the premiere.' And he goes, 'I guess it's true, because I started it.' "
