The Tony Award nominee reportedly informed his wife Lilly Jay that he was done with their marriage shortly before his romance with his 'Wicked' co-star became public.

AceShowbiz - Ethan Slater reportedly came clean with his wife Lilly Jay about his intention to break up shortly before his relationship with Ariana Grande became up. The actor in the "SpongeBob SquarePants" musical reportedly told his wife that he wanted a divorce just days before his rumored romance with the actress/singer was exposed.
"Ethan sat Lilly down a few days before the news broke about him and Ariana and said that he wanted a divorce," a so-called insider tells Us Weekly, stressing that "Lilly never saw it coming!"
A source close to Ariana denies it, but a third insider claimed that Ethan and Ariana "were separated" from their respective spouse "when they started dating and the relationship is recent." The third informant goes on noting, "It's understandable that its difficult to see an ex move on, especially in such a public way, and they are trying to be as respectful as possible."
Ariana and Ethan reportedly connected after they started filming the upcoming "Wicked" movie in London and they were not hiding their feelings for each other on the set. "Ariana and Ethan weren't careful," the source says. "They'd hold hands on set in between takes. They were sloppy and not hiding it."
Ariana and Ethan have been rumored in a relationship after she reportedly called it quits with her husband of two years, Dalton Gomez. "Ariana and Ethan are dating; however things are fairly new. Ariana and Dalton split in January, and Ethan is separated from his wife," a source told Us earlier this month. "Ariana and Ethan have only recently begun seeing each other but they have a lot of fun together and are enjoying each other's company."
While Dalton is reportedly "devastated" by the impending divorce, Lilly was said to be "completely blindsided" by Ethan's rumored relationship with Ariana. "It's horrible. They were high school sweethearts. They have a baby! She's a wreck," a source has claimed.
