AceShowbiz - Darius Jackson felt the need "to be perfect" once he and the "Nope" actress went public with their romantic relationship. Having been met with backlash over his outfit-shaming comments, the boyfriend of Keke Palmer opened up how the pressure for him to be "perfect" led to him being critical of his actress girlfriend.

The fitness instructor made a confession during an interview on the 29-year-old star's podcast "Baby, This is Keke Palmer". In the Wednesday, July 12 episode, which was filmed before the two's recent drama, he said, "You almost feel that pressure of needing to be perfect."

Darius went on to explain the impacts it had. "And so, it really confused me and infiltrated my mind because not only did I have to hold myself to that perfect standard, I was also holding you to a perfect standard as well," he elaborated. "So, any moment of flaw on my side or on your side, it was World War III."

Keke herself gave her two cents in response to Darius' statement. "It's a lot of pressure, because we are very proud and there are things that we want to share," she said. "At the same time, we do want to be able to maintain the privacy of our relationship, and I feel like we've done such a good job at being able to do that, being able to collaborate with each other, be creative with each other but also be private."

Darius' claim about needing to be "perfect" circulated online after Keke got candid about her decision to flaunt her postpartum body. In an interview with The Cut published on July 7, she said, "It's like, that's not something to hide, that's something to embrace. We're going to lean into this new body."

"That is the whole aura of what's happening with me in this big boss era as I come into my 30s and I have my baby boy," she continued explaining. "I'm just continuing to spread my wings as a young woman."

Darius himself was under fire after he tweeted his reaction to a video of Keke's interaction with Usher on stage at the latter's residency show in Las Vegas. At the time, Keke was wearing a black thong bodysuit under a black see-through dress, prompting Darius to tweet, "It's the outfit tho.. you a mom."
