AceShowbiz - "The Voice" has introduced the new coach for the next season. On Monday, May 15, TV personality Zuri Hall announced at the 2023 NBCUniversal Upfront event that Reba McEntire has been tapped to occupy the fourth red chair for season 24 of "The Voice".
At the event, Hall also revealed that Gwen Stefani will be making a return as one of the coaches as well. "I am so thrilled to announce the Season 24 coaches: Niall Horan, John Legend and Gwen Stefani returning, and in the fourth red chair, the queen of country, who will appear this season on 'The Voice' as a coach for the first time ever, Reba McEntire," she said.
McEntire also confirmed the news on her social media account. "There's a new Coach in town! See you all this Fall! #TheVoice," the Country Music Hall of Fame inductee wrote alongside a clip of her red chair. Prior to joining as a coach, she served as a "Mega Mentor" during season 23 and as Blake Shelton's battle advisor back in season 1.
The announcement arrived more than six months after Shelton said he'd be leaving the show. The 46-year-old singer, the longest-tenured coach on the NBC singing competition show, revealed in October 2022 that he would "step away" from the series at the end of season 23.
"I've been wrestling with this for a while and I've decided that it's time for me to step away from 'The Voice' after season 23," he said in a statement. "This show has changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me. It's been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns and I want to thank everyone at 'The Voice' from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people, you are the best."
Blake later praised the performers and the fans of the show. "I have to give a huge shout-out to the singers - the 'Voices' who come on this stage season after season and amaze us with their talent and a special thanks to those who chose me to be their coach," he continued. "Lastly, it's about y'all, the fans, who watch and support these artists, us coaches and everyone at 'The Voice' chasing their dreams. It wouldn't happen without you!"
