AceShowbiz - Katie Holmes has opened up about raising her daughter Suri. In a new interview, the "Batman Begins" actress explained why protecting the teenager is really important to her.
"What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her," the 44-year-old said in Glamour's cover story. "I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She's an incredible person."
Katie, who shares Suri with her ex-husband Tom Cruise, went on to note that she let her daughter follow in her famous footsteps. Suri herself lends her vocals for her mom's movies, "Rare Objects" and "Alone Together".
"I hope she always does something on my films. I always ask her," the actress shared. "But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people."
"And it's this safe, beautiful, creative space. So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly. That's how I like to work," she continued. "I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she's my heart."
Katie previously praised her daughter when speaking to Yahoo! Entertainment back in July 2022. "I always want the highest level of talent," she gushed after the latter made her singing debut in her new movie "Alone Together".
"So I asked her! She's very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing," Katie went on recalling. "That's the way I direct in general: It's like, 'This is what I think we all want - go do your thing.' "
