AceShowbiz - Simu Liu had fun while participating at the 2023 Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game on Friday, February 17 in Utah until one segment ruined it for him. Following the game, the actor slammed a "celebrity look-alike segment" that many found racist.

"I had a great time but this wasn't cool," the "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" star tweeted while replying to one fan's tweet. The said post featured a side-by-side photo of him and an Asian attendee displayed on a jumbotron.

In a follow-up tweet, Simu clarified that he put the blame on the cameraman instead of NBA. "to be perfectly clear the entire org and ops team surrounding all-star have been nothing but absolutely stellar to myself and all my friends. this was just one person with a camera. and no disrespect to my man in the videotron either! he's gorgeous we just don't look alike," the 33-year-old actor explained.

The comparison also didn't sit well with some other fans. "I seriously despise how people are so easily comfortable with being racist towards asian people. That fan looks nothing like simu liu at all whatsoever man," one person said.

"Just insane lol ain't no way they really just showed the first asian guy they found in the crowd," someone else added. "Not even close. Big L to whoever was running this," another user wrote, with one other saying, "Yikes. Not all Asians look the same, lol."

That night, Simu played for Team Dwyane Wade. Also playing in Dwyane's team were 21 Savage, Hasan Minhaj, Janelle Monae, Nicki Jam and DK Metcalf, the latter of whom was named the game's MVP.

Meanwhile, Cordae, Ozuna, Kane Brown andGuillermo Rodriguez played for Utah Jazz governor Ryan Smith's team. The game ended up with Team Dwyane taking home the victory with a final score of 81-78.
