The 'Wonder Woman' director posts a lengthy statement on Twitter to clarify her relationship with DC Studios after it's reported that she walked out of the project.

AceShowbiz - Patty Jenkins has broken her silence on her rumored exit from "Wonder Woman" film franchise. The DGA Award-winning filmmaker took to her Twitter page on Tuesday, December 13 to set things straight after it was reported that she walked out of "Wonder Woman 3" after clashing with Warner Bros. over her treatment for the next installment of the female-led superhero film series.

Jenkins issued a statement to address the status of "Wonder Woman 3" and her return to Disney's "Rogue Squadron". "Sigh… I'm not one to talk about private career matters, but I will not allow inaccuracies to continue," she began her lengthy note.

"Here are the facts: I originally left Rogue Squadron after a long and productive development process when it became clear it couldn't happen soon enough and I did not want to delay WW3 any further," the 51-year-old stated. "When I did, Lucasfilm asked me to consider coming back to RS after WW3, which I was honored to do, so I agreed. They made a new deal with me. In fact, I am still on it and that project has been in active development ever since. I don't know if it will happen or not. We never do until the development process is complete, but I look forward to its potential ahead."

Slamming "clickbait false story" about how she allegedly killed "WW3", Jenkins continued, "When there started being backlash about WW3 not happening, the attractive clickbait false story that it was me that killed it or walked away started to spread. This is simply not true. I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now."

Insinuating that she and the studio parted ways amicably, the filmmaker stressed, "I do not want what has been a beautiful journey with WW to land on negative note. I have loved and been so honored to be the person who got to make these last two Wonder Woman films. She is an incredible character. Living in and around her values makes one a better person every day. I wish her and her legacy an amazing future ahead, with or without me."

She went on praising Lynda Carter, whom she described as "an absolute legend and beacon of goodness and light," and gushed over "magical" Gal Gadot, whom she dubbed "a cherished friend, inspiration, and sister."

Thanking "Wonder Woman" fans, she concluded, "Thank you ALL for this wonderful journey. Keep up the Wonder Woman spirit. Any day that you face struggles, try asking: What would Wonder Woman do? I hope her beacon of love, truth and justice is always there to lead the way for you, as she has done for me."

James Gunn backed up Jenkins' claims. He replied to her tweet, "I can attest that all of Peter and my interactions with you were only pleasant and professional."

Patty Jenkins and James Gunn on 'Wonder Woman 3'

James Gunn reacted to Patty Jenkins' clarification about her rumored exit from 'Wonder Woman 3'.

The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report that Warner Bros. decided not to move forward with "Wonder Woman 3" under the direction of Gunn and Peter Safran, who are tasked with reshaping the DC landscape. TheWrap later claimed that the duo had nothing to do with the axing of the film, adding Jenkins allegedly walked away after the studio turned down her treatment for the threequel.

Without specifically addressing the "WW3" news, Gunn responded on Twitter last week, "some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, & some of it we haven't decided yet whether it's true or not." He added, "As for more answers about the future of the DCU, I will sadly have to ask you to wait. We are giving these characters & the stories the time & attention they deserve & we ourselves still have a lot more questions to ask & answer."
