AceShowbiz - Melinda Gates, one of the richest women in the world, is off the market. The former wife of Bill Gates has seemingly found a new man in her life following her divorce from the Microsoft co-founder.
According to TMZ, sources tell them that Melinda has been dating former reporter Jon Du Pre for a few months and maybe longer. The exact timeline of their relationship is unclear, but they were spotted together at a Nets and Celtics game back in April, so they may have been seeing each other since at least back then.
Jon worked as a TV correspondent for Fox News Channel in the late '90s and early 2000s. He touts himself as a Strategic Communications Specialist, with 35 years of experience in broadcasting, writing, video production, public speaking and more.
This marks Melinda's first romantic relationship since she called it quits with her longtime husband Bill. In May 2021, the former pair announced their decision to divorce in a joint statement, ending 27 years of marriage and 34 years as a couple. Their divorce was finalized in August 2021 after the 67-year-old software developer transferred over $2 billion worth of shares and stocks to her. They have three children, Jennifer, Rory and Phoebe Gates.
In March of this year, Melinda opened up on what led to their split. "I certainly believe in forgiveness, so I thought we had worked through some of that," the philanthropist told Gayle King on "CBS Mornings", "It wasn't one moment or one specific thing that happened. There just came a point in time where there was enough there that I realized it just wasn't healthy and I couldn't trust what we had." She added that she and Bill were "friendly" but "not friends"
