In a new episode of Good Day New York', the 84-year-old 'That Girl' actress is asked about her offensive remarks about the 'Sherri' host which allegedly upset the staffers on the talk show.

AceShowbiz - Marlo Thomas feels sorry for her comments on Sherri Shepherd during her recent appearance on "Sherri". In a new episode of "Good Day New York", Marlo was asked about her offensive remarks about Sherri's appearance which allegedly upset the staffers on "Sherri".
"I'm so sorry about that. I mean, I love her, and I thought I was giving a compliment," the 84-year-old award-winning actress said in the Thursday, November 3 episode. The "That Girl" star went on to say, "I said, 'Wow, you've really lost weight!' but I realized you're not supposed to do that."
She further noted that she has "learned [her] lesson" and will "never do it again." She jokingly told Fox 5 anchor Rosanna Scotto, "I'm never going to tell you how good you look. Never."
Marlo served as the guest in the Tuesday, November 1 episode of "Sherri". At one point in her interview, she recalled the time when she and Sherri's paths had crossed. "I interviewed you for my AOL show ['Monday's with Marlo']," she recalled, before noting that Sherri "used to be a big woman!"
While the host laughed at the remarks, Marlo then further tried to make her point by putting her hand around her body. She also blew her face out in an attempt to imitate the host's old size. "You've lost a lot of weight, but you've still got the boobies! That's good," Marlo continued.
It was said that the talk show's staff members didn't find Marlo's jokes funny. "Sherri was a good sport, but people [at the show] are very protective of her," an insider said. "People were not happy that she fat shamed her on national TV. It was a like a slap in the face."
It was also said that they were "very vocal" about it. "She works really hard at creating a very positive environment. Morale [at work] is everything to her, so people sort of went into mama bear mode," the source went on to note of former "The View" co-host.
As for Sherri, she just laughed it off. In response to a fan writing, "At least you know @MarloThomas keeps it real… lmao I almost fell out my chair laughing," Sherri tweeted, "You never know what's gonna happen on #Sherri!" along with a laughing emoji. A rep for the TV personality/actress also stressed, "[Just] as it came off on television, Sherri laughed off the comment."
