The 'That Girl' actress, who served as the guest in the Tuesday, November 1 episode of the talk show, allegedly irritated the staff members after fat-shaming the host.

AceShowbiz - Marlo Thomas' joke during her appearance on "Sherri" apparently didn't sit well with the staff. According to a new report, the "That Girl" actress, who served as the guest in the Tuesday, November 1 episode of the talk show, irritated the staff members after fat-shaming host Sherri Shepherd.
Marlo came to promote her multiple projects, including her upcoming film "Magical Christmas Village". Toward the end of the segment, Marlo recalled the time when their paths had crossed. "I interviewed you for my AOL show ['Monday's with Marlo']," she recalled, before noting that Sherri "used to be a big woman!"
As Sherri laughed, Marlo then further tried to make her point by putting her hand around her body. She also blew her face out in an attempt to imitate the host's old size. "You've lost a lot of weight, but you've still got the boobies! That's good," Marlo continued.
While Sherri didn't seem to be offended by Marlo's remarks, her talk show's staff members didn't find Marlo's jokes funny. "Sherri was a good sport, but people [at the show] are very protective of her," an insider told Page Six.
The source added, "People were not happy that she fat shamed her on national TV. It was a like a slap in the face." It was also said that they were "very vocal" about it. "She works really hard at creating a very positive environment. Morale [at work] is everything to her, so people sort of went into mama bear mode," the source went on to note of former "The View" co-host.
Sherri also laughed off Marlo's remarks in a tweet. In response to a fan writing, "At least you know @MarloThomas keeps it real… lmao I almost fell out my chair laughing," Sherri said, "You never know what's gonna happen on #Sherri!" along with a laughing emoji.
Another fan wrote that Marlo "just acted like those elders in the Black church. Just saying stuff that would offend if she were your peer, but you roll with it 'cause she's an elder! You can say whatever you want after 84 trips around the sun." Again, the host responded with laughing emojis.
A rep for Sherri also stressed, "[Just] as it came off on television, Sherri laughed off the comment."
Prior to this, Sherri revealed in an interview with PEOPLE after losing 20 pounds during COVID-19 pandemic, her "goal is to be living a long and active life with my son Jeffrey, who shares the same birthday as me."
