AceShowbiz - Coolio seemingly lived his life to the fullest days before his sudden death. In a video shared by his fan on Instagram, the "Gangsta's Paradise" rapper was seen looking happy and healthy while he was traveling.
The said fan, whose name Mika Janday, met Coolio in an airport in Houston, Texas. The two then posed together for a video and a photo, and the emcee was smiling as he wore a black-and-beige zip-up jacket, sunglasses and a cap.
In the caption of the post, Mika expressed her shock following Coolio's passing and detailed their encounter last Friday. "Omg y'all!!!!!! I am in complete shock!!!! When I seen him at the airport I ran up like COOLIOOOOOO can I get a pic! I was mad excited!!!!! I am so hurt!" she began.
"He was so humble and cool!!!" Mika continued sharing. "He even invited us to his show in Texas and we exchanged numbers so I could text him our names for the VIP list! He was such a COOL dude!!!! Get your rest @coolio Damn."
According to TMZ, Mika and her friends couldn't attend Coolio's show "because it was about an hour from where they were staying in Houston." They're reportedly "devastated" now after missing out his last life performance.
Coolio, whose real name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr., passed away at age 59 on Wednesday, September 28. His longtime manager Jarez confirmed to the outlet that the West Coast legend was visiting a friend's house in Los Angeles that day. After excusing himself to go to the bathroom, he never came out.
The friend eventually went in and found Coolio laying on the floor. The friend called EMTs, but when they arrived, it was apparently too late as they pronounced the rapper dead on the scene.
An official cause of death has not been determined, but Jarez said paramedics suspected he suffered cardiac arrest. Law enforcement sources, meanwhile, claimed no drugs or drug paraphernalia were found at the time of his death.
