AceShowbiz - Prince Harry wore his military uniform during special vigil ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II on Saturday, September 17, following a special permission from King Charles III. However, it apparently came with a hidden insult as one thing is still missing.
Both Harry and his brother Prince William wore the Blues and Royals No. 1 dress uniform, but it could be seen that Harry didn't have the late queen's royal cypher, her initials "ER," on his shoulder epaulets. According to a new report, the Buckingham Palace didn't give him the crucial piece of hardware. Prince Andrew, meanwhile, was allowed to keep the special letters, which were usually worn by those presently "in service" of the reigning monarch.
A so-called friend revealed to the Sunday Times of London that the Duke of Sussex "is heartbroken." The friend added, "To remove his grandmother's initials feels very intentional."
The pal went on to say that the husband of Meghan Markle was so "devastated." It was also said that the prince almost donned a morning suit to avoid the "humiliation."
During the special vigil, Prince Harry joined Prince William, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise Windsor, Viscount Severn and royal cousins Peter Phillips as well as Zara Tindall. They each took their place with heads bowed for the 15-minute silence out of respect for the queen, who died on September 8, after proceeding towards the coffin by the prompts of the knocks of a guard's sword.
Prince William stood at the head of the coffin and his brother while Prince Harry at the foot. Near to William were Zara and Peter, the children of Anne, Princess Royal and Mark Phillips. Harry, meanwhile, stood close to Beatrice and Eugenie, with Louise and Severn, the Earl and Countess of Wessex's children, standing halfway along the coffin.
Initially, Harry wasn't allowed to wear his military uniform during ceremonial events for Queen Elizabeth II. In response to that, the Duke's spokesperson said in a statement, "Prince Harry The Duke of Sussex will wear a morning suit throughout events honoring his grandmother." The statement continued, "His decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears and we respectfully ask that focus remain on the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II."
