Not stopping there, a real fire breaks out not far from the CBS drama's filming set on the same day when an individual carrying a handgun fires shots at people.

AceShowbiz - "Chicago Fire" halted its filming on Wednesday afternoon, September 14 following a shooting incident which took place near the set. It was reported that a gunman caused a chaos by firing at a group of people nearby the production set for NBC's marquee drama series.

The Chicago Police Department shared in a statement to news media that an unidentified individual carrying a handgun shot at a group of people standing in the 5900 block of W. Madison Street at approximately 1:45 P.M. local time. The suspect fled the area in a dark-colored SUV.

While the target is still unclear, thankfully nobody was struck by the suspect. The police are currently investigating the incident.

No one in the production team sustained any injuries and involved in the shooting itself. A bullet, meanwhile, did ricochet off some equipment. According to CWBChicago, the cast and crew of the drama series were working at A.A. Rayner and Son's Funeral Home on the city's West Side when a gunman began firing from a corner opposite the set.

Meanwhile, a source close to the production shared that following the shooting incident, the production entered its standard security protocols. It's currently unknown when the filming on "Chicago Fire" will resume, though PEOPLE noted that the production will restart on Thursday.

The shooting wasn't the only chaos happening near the show's set on Wednesday. A fire reportedly broke out not far from where the program had been filming. The cast was practicing how to extinguish a fire when another broke out just down the street from the show's production area, Fox News stated.

One of A.A. Rayner and Son's Funeral Home's funeral directors, Charles Childs Jr, spoke to the media outlet to address the incidents. "While Chicago Fire Department responded, 'Chicago Fire' television stars and crew were just one block away so people saw the actors and wanted to know why they weren't responding to the real fire," he stated. "While all of this was going on, some idiot used a firearm and shoots at people. We don't know who was being targeted. We don't know who the assailant was."

"It was chaotic because all these activities were going on at the same time...it was one of those days. You couldn't have written this in a novel," he added, before concluding, "We're all thankful that nobody got hurt here."
